I am interested in long term projects with a documentary background. My approach is analytical, in-depth, and honest.

Marc Prüst

“My main help to photographers is that I can give constructive advice on how to build, expand and market photographic projects. The advice is always based on the contents of the project. I focus on the link between contents and form, and I am able to identify where they do or do not match up.”

Marc Prüst is active as photography consultant, curator, and teacher. In this capacity, he edits books, creates exhibitions, teaches and organizes workshops and masterclasses, lectures and writes on photography. Furthermore, he advises photographers on an individual basis on how to develop their work and how to market it.

As book editor, Marc works on monographs in close cooperation with the photographer in editing and sequencing the images for book publication. He has worked with many individual photographers such as Carlos Cazalis, Jeroen Toirkens, Munem Wasif, and Pieter ten Hoopen.

Marc worked for the World Press Photo Foundation from 2001 to 2007, where he organized and installed exhibitions all over the world. In 2005, he was responsible for the exhibition and award winning publication Things As They Are, Photo Journalism in Context since 1955, for which he worked in close cooperation with Curator Christian Caujolle and Editor Chris Boot. In 2007, Marc moved on to Agence VU’, where he was mainly responsible for the international, cultural activities of the agency.

In 2010, Marc successfully launched the Northern Lights Masterclass, a one year masterclass for professional photojournalists and social documentary photographers, in cooperation with the Noorderlicht Gallery and Festival.

Besides editing several monographic publications and solo exhibitions, he was one of three curators for the FotoGrafia festival in Rome for the period 2010-2012 and the creative director of the one and only photo festival in Nigeria, LagosPhoto.
