SCHILT PUBLISHING is a publisher of high profile journalistic, documentary and art photography books. Schilt Publishing is also the long-term publishing partner of World Press Photo. Starting in 2010, Schilt Publishing has co-published the biennial catalogues of FotoFest, Houston. From 2014 onwards, this cooperation has been extended to co-publishing comprehensive overview books about the themes of the biennials (in 2016 Changing Circumstances – Looking at the Future of the Planet).

Photographers published or being published by Schilt Publishing are, amongst many others: Frederick Baldwin, Jonas Bendiksen, Jodi Bieber, Marcus Bleasdale, David Chancellor, Sergey Chilikov, Thomas Dworzak, Rena Effendi, Lauren Fleishman, Anna Fox, Leonard Freed, Mario Giacomelli, Stanley Greene, Lorena Guillén Vaschetti, Vadim Gushchin, Cig Harvey, Jane Hilton, Joshua Lutz, Diana Matar, Yola Monakhov Stockton, Igor Moukhin, Ilvy Njiokiktjien, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin, Elena Perlino, Lorena Ros, Elliot Ross, Wendy Watriss and Donald Weber.

Ingram Publisher Services distributes Schilt Publishing in North America. Thames & Hudson distributes Schilt Publishing’s books in all other countries of the world.

In 2013, SCHILT GALLERY was erected. This fine art gallery is a logical next step and provides an even broader basis in the international top class photography world. The first show the gallery held, in the spring of 2014, was an overview of Mario Giacomelli’s work that originates from the archive based in Sassoferrato, Le Marche. After that, shows followed from Jane Hilton, Joshua Lutz, Camille Renée Devid (all 2014) and Elliot Ross, Sophie Zénon and the superb show by five Russian artists: Russian House (2015). In preparation is a double show from Cig Harvey and Yola Monakhov Stockton (starting in February 2016). Schilt Gallery organises, approximately four times per year, a solo exhibition of one of its artists at the home base in Amsterdam.

The aim of both companies is to offer a worldwide platform for its artists as well as being a family of artists in the old-fashioned way.

Maarten Schilt is a portfolio reviewer at esteemed photo festivals all over the world. He is also a member of the International Advisory Council to the Executive Director of Center for Photography in Santa Fe.
