In 2013, SCHILT GALLERY was erected. This fine art gallery is a logical next step and provides an even broader basis in the international top class photography world. The first show the gallery held, in the spring of 2014, was an overview of Mario Giacomelli’s work that originates from the archive based in Sassoferrato, Le Marche. After that, shows followed from Jane Hilton, Joshua Lutz, Camille Renée Devid (all 2014) and Elliot Ross, Sophie Zénon and the superb show by five Russian artists: Russian House (2015). In preparation is a double show from Cig Harvey and Yola Monakhov Stockton (starting in February 2016). Schilt Gallery organises, approximately four times per year, a solo exhibition of one of its artists at the home base in Amsterdam.
The aim of both companies is to offer a worldwide platform for its artists as well as being a family of artists in the old-fashioned way.
Maarten Schilt is a portfolio reviewer at esteemed photo festivals all over the world. He is also a member of the International Advisory Council to the Executive Director of Center for Photography in Santa Fe.
Besides visual excellence, one of my top passions is storytelling. I can help you in your editing process, give you some insights into the publishing world and share my contacts with you.
You may be a beginner or an experienced artist – there is always the challenge and chance to move higher. I am committed to helping you make this move happen.
My aim is to support emerging artists, including students, working in a field related to photography or video. I can provide valuable insight into artistic practices and assist in all stages of your creative process from initial conceptualization to the verbalization of your work.
I am curious to know your thoughts and excited to see your work. I am happy to mentor and facilitate your projects, share my contacts, and give feedback on your work whether you are an emerging young photographer or a more established artist.
I am always looking for new talents and interesting artists who are making special and unique work.
I am currently curating exhibitions on young photography for 2018 and 2019. I am mainly interested in reviewing creative photography, documentary photography and photojournalism.
We might provide artists with an opportunity to exhibit and participate at the Encuentros Abiertos in Argentina and many other exhibitions or projects that we curate for different institutions around the world.
Having worked with many of photography’s past icons, I am now interested to review the work of emerging photographers who will someday shape the future of photography.
I’m interested in all types of independent and innovative photography, conceptual as well as subjective documentary.
As a specialty, I’m offering advice and introductory essays to photobooks in progress.
We are actively seeking an international mix of artists who are at a critical point of their career and would benefit from exposure through exhibitions and essays.
With a versatile background in documentary storytelling, my focus is on how to build a stronger narrative, whether it is a book project or an essay. I am very curious to review projects with an in-depth and personal approach.
I am looking for work that might be exhibited at the PhotoVisa festival and published in resources that I am connected with.
I am interested in discovering and helping new talents to develop, but I also like working closely with established artists who want some honest and constructive feedback about new projects.
With a curatorial and educators background, I can provide creative feedback on project-based work from both emerging and established artists.
I will discuss your work and give you advice on how to develop as an artist. I may hook you up with the right people to reach your goals and perhaps even facilitate publication in the magazine KATALOG.
I can advise both upcoming and established artists on how to further develop their work as well as provide assistance with exhibition possibilities in Iceland. As a photographic artist and a curator, I can share my experience from both sides.
I am excited to work with all types of artists and can offer strategies on editing and sequencing your work for submissions to grants, awards, and more. Currently, I am looking for projects for our expanding Review Santa Fe Photo Festival program and exhibitions.
Advice will be given on where to go next or how to develop your practice on the basis of the work seen/routes into photography/getting your work out.
I am interested in long term projects with a documentary background. My approach is analytical, in-depth, and honest.
As a reviewer, I am interested in seeing contemporary work made by photographers and media artists from around the world, especially documentary, social and conceptual work.
I look at work from around the world for possible exhibition, collecting, or educational programming. I am drawn to work that is layered - visually or conceptually - and push the boundaries of traditional photography.
I see photography as a powerful artistic means that is often constrained by pre-established formats. I am eager to discover works by lens-based artists who are into cross-disciplinarity and think outside the box. In turn I can offer an honest, regardful and open-minded reading of your work.
As a reviewer, I see my role as both a sounding board, a strategist for the development of the work and a professional who can provide valuable insight into ways artists can strengthen their work.
I am interested in reviewing many kinds of artworks, no matter what medium is used. I can also assist artists with practical advice and information about the art scene, people or institutions.
I am able to assist photo artists through publishing work in Next Level Magazine, monographs, and selection towards international photography exhibitions curated by Next Level Projects.
